Publication of Application
Madrid applications received by the IPOPHL are published in the IPOPHL eGazette.
Examination
If the examiner finds absolute or relative grounds for refusal of the registration, a Notification of Provisional Refusal of Protection will be issued. The applicant has two (2) months from the mailing date of the Notification to respond to the refusal, which period may be extended for an additional period of two (2) months upon written request and payment of the extension fee.
Publication for Opposition Purposes
If the examiner finds that the application meets the requirements for registration, the application will be published in the IPOPHL eGazette for opposition purposes.
The period to file an opposition is within thirty (30) days from the date of publication.
Statement of Grant of Protection
If no opposition is filed to the registration of the mark, a Statement of Grant of Protection or Statement of Grant of Protection Following a Provisional Refusal will be issued.
